Sady Fischer, CDP (she/her) is the Corporate Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, where she has brought her 16 years of social justice experience to the corporate world. She excels at creating opportunities for open, honest conversations around implicit bias, power & privilege, LGBTQ+ inclusion, racial equity and other social justice issues.
At Excellus, she is entrusted with challenging the status quo and creating a welcoming and equitable work environment. Sady has fostered an environment where inclusion, diversity, equity and access are explicitly recognized as fundamental parts of our organizational culture. Through her leadership, DEI has moved from one departments job to a corporate-wide, strategic priority that is everyone’s responsibility. Excellus now has an intentional commitment to addressing and mitigating the impact of biases in all parts of the business, such as in hiring practices, promotions, and access to development opportunities.
Sady is also a dynamic and highly sought-after, award-winning Queer, feminist, Latina speaker who is known for her energy and passion around social justice issues. In her role as a freelance speaker, she facilitates workshops on issues related to unconscious bias, privilege, race, gender identity and sexual orientation. Sady has had the honor of presenting at various conferences such as the Upstate Latino Summit, the Latino/Hispanic Health Equity Initiative Statewide Symposium; the YWCA’s Stand Against Racism Conference and several Diversity Conferences (University of Rochester, The College at Brockport, and Monroe Community College). When she is not working to break down systemic barriers, you can find her spending quality time with her beautiful fiancé, Leslie, and their 3 children, Mook, Max and Tristan.
