“I wanted to send a quick note along to let you know how much I enjoyed the speakers from Friday. They were both eye opening and informative. I had my “ah-ha” moment when Dr. Meier spoke about palliative care. I had no idea about the complexity and scope of it, and my perception has completely changed. Thank you for putting together such a stellar program!”

“A note of gratitude and congratulations on today’s program. The speakers were outstanding! Every person I talked with said that they got so much out of the presentations and questions. A job well done.
As interim Chair of the Health Care for the Homeless program I thank you for allowing Carlos to present and raising awareness for our program. There is great work being done throughout our community. Any opportunity to spread the word is very much appreciated.”

“I feel so lucky to have been invited to attend. The speakers were life changing. Thank you so much for putting together the program. Since it was my first CTC, I have nothing to compare it to, but I think it’s going to be hard to beat!
Diane Meier is an idol of mine, so it was a real honor to be able to have lunch with her and speak with her.”

“You certainly out did yourself with the 10th anniversary event – Dr. Pearl and Dr. Meier were both phenomenal speakers – easily two of my all-time favorites!!
Grateful to be a small part of the ongoing progress you are building and continued innovation and improvement of the Rochester healthcare community.”

“Excellent. Dr. Berwick was extremely engaging, but then he’s my “hero.” I have also been giving the letter he read to all my students and residents. But, I still think his commencement address was even better at highlighting that patients are not diagnoses. They are people, they have a history, they have a family.
I really wish I had the “power” to try to attempt to bring our community back together. I was sadden when he acknowledged how far Rochester has “fallen” when it comes to collaboration and cooperation. We were once a model. Not any more.”

“I cannot thank you enough for the invitation to today’s session. While both speakers were excellent, Dr. Berwick was simply amazing. Honestly, it was a little too close to home in some points of his discussion given my last month with my dad, but what an inspirational speaker and thought leader. I walked away inspired and motivated even more than I already am.”

“I just wanted to take moment to say thanks so very much for your work to bring Don Berwick to Rochester for Wednesday’s Cracking the Code event. I knew it would be a terrific local opportunity to hear from someone with an incredible vision for health care quality, but Wednesday’s talk blew away any expectations I might have had! I think the Radical Redesign Principles he outlined provide us with the blueprint we need to follow if we’re going to realize the vision I know we share for health and wellness in our community – and the examples he offered could not have been more compelling. It really strikes to the core of why so many of us we choose to work in this field.
I’ve talked with several colleagues who were also at the event and I think we all shared a similar reaction. I’m going to share the slides from Dr. Berwick’s presentation as well as the NY Times letter with my team and suggest that they set aside some time to really absorb the content, watch the video clips, and read the letter as I think they offer some particularly poignant reminders of the impact that our actions can have when we put the patient and family first – regardless of where we fall in the health and human service delivery spectrum.
I know that planning and implementing an event like this takes an incredible amount of time and effort, and just wanted to say thank you for making it happen. I’m hopeful that it will serve as a catalyst – pushing us all to work harder, smarter and in closer collaboration. Be interested in your thoughts re: other forums where we might continue the conversation.”

“I quite enjoyed yesterday’s symposium. Don Berwick is amazing – I always enjoy hearing from successful people who have navigated a challenging life and so have reached a point where they can say what they think.
The statement about the cycle of exclusion (you can’t give what you don’t have) was a perspective I had never heard and found quite insightful.”

I liked meeting the people at my table, who were very kind and insightful on the discussions we had. I look forward to the upcoming training.”

“Seeing dietitians as important partners in the business of healthcare, the Healthcare Business Academy is offering dietitians CEUs to attend their exceptional seminars about the business of healthcare. Last year I had the opportunity to be an affiliate Fellow of this amazing organization. Not only did I learn a lot about issues pertinent to human resources, healthcare policy, and national healthcare trends, I was able to meet and connect with numerous healthcare business leaders in the Rochester area–connections that have been invaluable to my responsibilities as a manager and administrator. I think attending a Healthcare Business Academy seminar makes a statement: I am a registered dietitian interested in the business of healthcare so that I can better serve my profession and grow to my full potential.”

“I think the greatest benefit from the (Fellowship) Program thus far is having the opportunity to meet leaders from other healthcare organizations, especially competitive organizations, whom I might not otherwise have the opportunity to meet. These connections keep the competition in perspective and remind us that we are all working toward the same outcome – better health for our community.”

“I want to acknowledge what a wonderful job the three of you have done in bringing the HBA Fellowship Program to the wonderfully professional place it has arrived at. Last week’s sessions on Thursday and Friday were world class in all respects, in my opinion. Great content and student/presenter engagement coupled with excellent meeting management and a great facility combined to deliver an excellent start to the 2017 season.
I had a chance to talk with several students to get their impression of how things were going and everyone had very positive feedback.
I am proud to be tied into your great work and this amazing asset for the Rochester community. Your hard work is paying off in so many ways.”

“Thank you for the opportunity to participate in the events last week. The Cracking the Code morning event was exceptional – each of the speakers provided unique and interesting perspectives on the world of HIT and HIE.
The luncheon that followed allowed for a good deal of discussion on the unique healthcare ecosystem that we have here in the Rochester Region, and opportunities to work collaboratively on a project with ONC. Dr. Mason was very supportive of such an initiative, and the consensus was that the RHIO should convene a meeting to discuss this idea further.
I would like to act on this idea – while the ideas are still fresh! Would it be possible for you to forward a list of the people who attended that luncheon (with their email addresses) , so that I could invite them to participate in continuing this conversation?”

“Linda Becker and her team at North Star Network have provided the Fellows with a program rich with Healthcare resource materials and contacts. The Program sessions take place in a variety of settings across Rochester, settings that inspire innovation, collaboration, and partnership. The program also has Fellowship representation from across the healthcare continuum and allows for a great deal of networking opportunities. Every session is packed with a combination of prework, presentations, onsite work and problem solving, and onsite tours/information. I am using the information I learn to accomplish today’s work and to plan for tomorrow’s healthcare environment.”

Local Thought Leader Presenter

“My experience with the Fellowship Program was more than I anticipated. I expected that I would learn about global and local health care issues, their challenges and advances in the health care field. What I did not expect was the greater sense of community that I gained. The program fostered a greater sense of my role as a leader not just in my organization but to the community in which I live and am a part of. I also did not expect that my participation with the Fellowship would continue after I completed the coursework and final project. It’s nice to be part of something that is dedicated to improving our community through the work and engagement of many talented people.”

The benefits start with the excellent Healthcare Education materials. These give everyone a solid base of information for cross-functional expertise. Additionally, the personal and professional networking that takes place is very important for future contacts. Finally, the National Healthcare and business experts that you bring in to speak are a bonus for exposure to the broader Healthcare issues and solutions nationally.”

For the first time ever, I have been part of learning experience which focuses on good content, but also addresses how personal health determines quality of output. Self-assessments and small group discussions provide the perfect environment to examine important challenges and opportunities present in our community.
I am very impressed with the insight provided by the speakers. They certainly are subject-matter experts that are willing to share their knowledge. The HBA Fellowship has helped me become more productive at work and to better manage our human capital.”
