Jennifer Rendfrey

Jen often jokes that if a fiduciary and a compliance officer had a baby—it would be her. With over a decade of experience in benefits and population health strategy, Jen Rendfrey currently serves as the Head of Benefits at Paychex, where she leads enterprise-wide strategy across benefits, retirement, and absence management.

Jen spent nine years as the Health and Wellness Director at Nutranext (which was a Clorox Company), where she developed a deep understanding of the intersection between wellness and population health. She quickly recognized that managing claims and focusing on population health outcomes were essential to driving long-term value for employers.

She then joined Grady Legal, PA where she developed and managed consumer healthcare and benefit strategies. It was here that Jen gained a comprehensive understanding of the Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA) and its real-world implications for employers. She also immersed herself in the full life cycle of a healthcare claim—from how providers are influenced by systems like EPIC at the point of care, to how claims are transmitted and paid. Along the way, she learned just how many things can go wrong in that process and the implications it has to the patient—insights that continue to shape her strategic approach today.

Jen later joined Walmart Health, where she briefly managed benefits before transitioning to Walmart to oversee all digital health vendors—including direct primary care and navigation partners—as well as CAA compliance across the department. In this role, she sharpened her expertise in applying the CAA to vendor management and negotiations.

Now at Paychex, Jen brings a unique blend of regulatory insight, operational experience, and strategic foresight to drive innovation, compliance, and value in employee benefits.

Outside of work, Jen is married with one beloved fur baby. A former collegiate athlete, she competed in three sports: tennis (1 season), cross country (3 seasons), and softball (4 seasons). She’s an avid outdoor enthusiast who enjoys running, biking, golfing, pickleball, and hiking—and that’s just scratching the surface. She also has a deep love for spontaneous travel: if she finds a good deal on a flight, she’s off—figuring out the rest of the trip as she goes.
