Carol M. Cassell is a Principal in Freed Maxick’s Healthcare Practice. Carol joins us with a focus on strategy and performance improvement, and more than 30 years of combined experience in health plan and healthcare delivery systems. This experience includes executive leadership roles at DeGraff Memorial Hospital, ECMC, Millard Fillmore Health System, and Independent Health.
Carol excels at developing and leading innovative strategies, accountable reimbursement programs, performance improvement, and new businesses initiatives. She effectively manages operations that result in market growth and improved quality of care, operational efficiency, and financial performance. She has served as a strategic advisor in the development and oversight of complex health strategy initiatives supporting clinical integration by leveraging technology to achieve improvement in healthcare quality, cost, and experience.
Before joining Freed Maxick Healthcare, Carol held several payor and provider healthcare industry leadership roles. Her accomplishments include initiating the Western New York Community EMR Program that was sponsored by three health plans, developing patient-centered medical homes, and as a health system CEO, actively engaging in the merger of three Buffalo, NY hospital systems.
Carol is active in her community, serving on a local committee responsible for community health planning. She has also led or supported the implementation of performance measurement and dashboards for corporate boards and executive leadership, insurance products, key business process and programs, and PCMH practices.
