Nirav R. Shah, MD, MPH, is chief medical officer of Sharecare, the digital health company that helps people manage all their health in one place. Dr. Shah joined Sharecare in 2021 as part of its acquisition of doc.ai, the Silicon Valley-based company that accelerated digital transformation in healthcare. Board-certified in internal medicine, Dr. Shah is passionate about driving care transformation, patient safety and quality, and the strategies required to transition to high–value, patient-centered care.
An experienced leader in healthcare and digital health, Dr. Shah was named to the Advisory Committee to the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (ACD) in Oct. 2021. He also is a member of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services Secretary’s Advisory Committee, an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine, a senior fellow of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), senior scholar at Stanford University’s Clinical Excellence Research Center, and an independent director of public and private companies and foundations. Dr. Shah also cares for patients at Stanford Health Care.
Prior to joining Sharecare, Dr. Shah served as chief operating officer of Kaiser Permanente in Southern California and as commissioner of the New York State Department of Health.
Dr. Shah is a graduate of Harvard College and Yale School of Medicine.
